April Empties

It's the end of the month again and we all know what that means, time to look back on the products I finished this month. You can click on the names of the products to go to the reviews if I wrote them.

Fa Vitamin & Powder Vitamin C + Pink Grapefruit // Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water // L'Oréal Tecni Art Full Volume Mousse 4 // Dove Pure Deodorant
I'm going to start with these four products, I didn't finish a lot this month so I didn't make categories this time, I just pilled them all together. These are the non-makeup products I finished. The first one is a shower gel that took me quite a long time to finish, I wrote a review of this one back in July and now, half a year later I finally finished it. It's not that I didn't like it, it's just that I wasn't really in the mood to use it. The scent is really sweet and because of this I rarely used. I only used it when I took a shower in the middle of the day and that is not something I regularly do. Then we have my replacement for Bioderma. This is by Garnier and to me, this is a perfect dupe for Bioderma (read my review here) which is my favourite eye makeup remover. Sadly it's quite expensive and hard to get a hold on but this Garnier one is a very good alternative. I still think Bioderma is better with this one does a really good job at the same tasks. The third product is a mousse, I also wrote about this in my last post and I love it. This gives my hair so much body and even though I think it's quite expensive for a mousse I definitely think it's worth it.The last product is a deodorant, a very basic deodorant by Dove in the new packaging that is supposed to be more environmentally friendly. I usually go for basic deodorants like this, no scent or whatsoever because that's what I have perfume for.

Catrice Glamour Doll Volume Mascara Waterproof // Essence Glossy Lipbalm Mango Icecream // Essence I<3 Stage Eyeshadow Base // Catrice Ultimate Colour Lipstick 290 Sweet Coraline // Catrice Lash & Brow Shaping And Conditioning Mascara Gel // Catrice LE Hidden World Liquid Metal Gloss 02 Walk On Air
Moving on to the makeup items I'm throwing away. Starting with a mascara, this is the waterproof version of my favourite budget mascara and I rarely used it. Waterproof is just not my cup of tea. I only used this when I was on holiday and jumped into a pool every day, for that it was really good and didn't budge. The second product is a lip gloss, I originally bought three of these and this one is the only one I saved. I really liked this one but it has gone bad, for such a small tube, it lasts a very long time. Then we have an eyeshadow base from Essence, I used and loved this for a long time and I believe this is my second tube. I'm currently using one from Catrice that I like just as much and I cannot decide which one is better. Then I have a lipstick I'm getting rid of, I bought this in 2013 and back then I thought it would be a really nice autumnal shade. And it is, don't get me wrong, it's a gorgeous shade but it doesn't suit my skin tone, my pale skin is not a good match for this shade of lipstick. Nice lipstick but not for me which is why I'm getting rid of it. Then I have product that;s just too gross looking to use anymore. This brow gel is really great but now it looks all brown and gross and I don't wanna use it anymore. The last product is a lip gloss that I've had for years. This was part of an old limited edition and I absolutely loved it. That's is why it's so hard to get rid of it, I've used this with a lot of joy for a long time and is one of the oldest makeup products I own.

And that was it for today's post. I hope you enjoyed reading my opinion about the products I finished and come back on Saturday to read about my favourites of this month.

Current Shower Products

Recently I got some new products to use in the shower and instead of writing separate reviews about each product I've decided to put them all in one post. Today I'm showing you the products
I'm currently using in the shower.

The Body Shop Banana Shampoo & Conditioner €6,50 // L'Oréal Tecni Art Full Volume 4 Mousse // Andrélon Surprising Volume Duo Mist
These are the products I use in my hair, not much but this is what works for my fine, limp hair. The shampoo and conditioner I'm currently using are banana ones from The Body Shop. I bought these when I went to Antwerpen (read my photo diary here) and they're great. The reason I bought them was the smell, they smell like these banana candies and makes my hair smell really nice, not like the banana scent but really clean and fresh. The other two products I use are a mousse and a volume mist. The mousse is a recent discovery of mine and now I cannot live without it. It's from L'Oréal and I bought it at the hair dresser which is why I haven't provided a link, I cannot find it anywhere online. This really gives my hair a volume boost which is something my limp hair really needs, this is the first mousse that really does something. The other product is a mist by Andrélon that pumps my hair up a little bit more but I don't feel this works when I don't use the mousse. The mousse on itself works great but the combination of these products is my favourite.

And these are the products I use on my body. I have three shower gels I really like at the moment. The first one is by The Body Shop and is the one product in this post I wrote a review about (read it here) and I dare to say that this is my favourite shower gel. The scent is amazing and the actual product is amazing as well. The second shower gels is one I've been really liking lately as well. This is by Therme and it smells like chocolate and coconut. I like using it now but I think this will even been better in summer because of the summery scent. The only thing I don't like about this the colour of the product, it has a greenish brown colour and it looks like I'm washing myself with poop if you know what I mean. The last shower gel is by Palmolive and this is more of a scrub than a shower gel. I'm not in love with this because I don't really like the scent but I do like that it's a nice and soft scrub. It gets rid of dead skin but it's not harsh at all, really nice for dry skin. The last product of today's post is a body lotion. I've had this Dove Beauty Blossom lotion before and I really liked it so I picked it up again. Normally I always go for body butters but this is really nice, just a body lotion with a nice scent that works great.

Real Techniques Powder, Blush & Setting Brush

Is there anybody out there who doesn't like Real Techniques brushes? Well, I'm belong to the giant group who loves them. A while ago they I could stack discount on discount and I couldn't resist buying three new ones. Today I'm reviewing the powder, blush and setting brush, let's see if these are just as good as the other Real Techniques brushes I already own and love.

These three brushes are part of the first three lines Real Techniques launched. There's a yellow/orange line for a flawless base, a purple line to enhance your eyes and a pink line for the perfect finish.

The first brush I got is a giant powder brush. I got this because the powder brush I own is falling apart, the brush is great but the handle is getting way too loose and I'm sure it will fall off pretty soon. This brush is obviously made to apply powder and it works great for purpose but I've been using this to apply bronzer all over my face as well. It's just really good to quickly bronze up my face.

The second one is this blush brush and this one I do use for what it's meant for, blush. The shape of this kind of pointy brush works great to apply a wash of colour on your cheeks. It makes me love blush even more.

And this is the third and last brush I bought, the setting brush. I got this because of Lilly Pebbles, she uses it to apply her concealer and according to her it works great for that. I think this one's originally meant to apply highlighter but I prefer a fan brush to do that. I do love it for concealer, it works way better then the basic flat concealer brushes that don't blend in concealer very well, this one does. I blends in concealer like a dream and because this brush is really soft, it's also less harsh for your eye area.

I'm so happy I got these brushes, the blush and setting brush have been on my wishlist for a while now and I'm so glad I finally have them. All three of these brushes are incredibly soft and they work great. I bought these brushes on Look Fantastic because for me that's the easiest way to get a hold off them but recently some Dutch drugstore have also added Real Techniques to their assortment.

You can buy the powder brush for $10.00, the blush brush for $9.00 and the setting brush for $8.00.

Max Factor Creme Puff Blush 15 Seductive Blush

Time for another blush review. I'm a sucker for blush, pink blush especially. Their is just something about this product that really 'makes' my face. One of the blushes I have an eye on is the Hourglass Ambient Lightning Blush, ever since I saw it for the first time I've been wanting it but I cannot get it here in the Netherlands. Luckily Max Factor brought out four very similar blushes. I heard these were very good dupes for the Hourglass ones but for just a fraction of the price. At first I thought these blushes were cream blushes, I mean they do have the word creme in the name. Which is why I did't really click on the reviews I saw on it online, it wasn't until I saw a video by Amelia Liana in which she was raving about them, that I finally looked up. After that, I couldn't wait to try them.

In the store I took a good look at them and swatched away. I didn't allow myself to buy all four of them because they're quite pricey so I went for the one I'd wear most, Seductive Pink. These blushes are baked which gives them a gorgeous swirly pattern, kind a like a planet, pink in this case. This shade is a combination of different shades of pink with a golden sheen and looks just stunning.

(Sorry for my wonky brow, I didn't brush them through properly)
As you can see, the blush is very subtle. Seductive Pink is a soft pink with a gorgeous golden sheen over it, the perfect spring blush. Because of the sheen this blush helps you to achieve that 'natural glow' everybody is seeking at the moment. The blush is very pigmented but because the texture blends in really well with the skin, it gives a really pretty and natural result, just the way I like it.

I think I've found a good contestant for my favourite blush (this one), it's pink, it's springy and it's just gorgeous. The glow it gives is amazing and I don't think I'll purchase an Hourglass blush anytime soon because this Max Factor one is basically the same.

Here in Holland we have 4 shades, 05 Lovely Pink, 15 Seductive Pink, 25 Alluring Rose and 30 Gorgeous Berries but in for example England there are two more. 10 Nude Mauve and 20 Lavish Mauve. These beauties cost €12,99 and are available at the drugstore.

Spring Makeup Edit

Spring is finally here in the Netherlands and that means it's time to switch up my makeup. I've seen a lot of YouTubers and bloggers do these type of spring beauty edits and I love them. The look I go for a lot during spring is the following which I also saw Lilly Pebbles do. Here's my budget take on it.

I begin by applying my Catrice eyeshadow base all over my lid but for this look I also apply it underneath my eyes, this will make the blue that I'll apply later stay on longer. Because the blue liner is the focus point of this look I want to keep the rest neutral. On my eyelid I'm using the shade Chocolate from the W7 In The Buff palette and that's all the eyeshadow I'll use in this look. To spice it up a bit though I apply eyeliner with the Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner and I thight line my eyes with a black pencil from HEMA. Time to curl my lashes and apply a nice coat of mascara, this one is the Lash Sensational Multiplying Mascara by Maybelline. The final step to the eyes and also the eye catcher of this look is the bright blue liner along the lower lashes. The one I'm using is from Catrice and unfortunately no longer available but there are a lot of other alternatives out there because this lilacy shade of blue is very popular at the moment.

This is the final look, a very neutral spring look with a pop of colour. I love wearing this with an all black outfit to make it appropriate for spring. I hope you liked reading this spring makeup edit and I hope you took some inspiration from it. This can be done with a any shade you like but I think blue is my favourite, it makes my eyes appear more green and I think it would have that effect one every eye colour. It just drives all the attention up to your eyes and makes them pop. I hope you give it a try because this look is a real eye catcher.

Koh Nail Polish

Today's post will be short, apologize for that but I have a lot to do this weekend. Today I'm going to show you a nail polish I got recently from Koh. I have no idea what the name of this is because I cannot find it anywhere on the bottle but on the bottom it says number 18 (don't know if this is the number of the polish or just on every Koh bottle). This polish is a dusty purple shade and I love the shade, it's gorgeous. Perfect when you want something sophisticated that's also something different then a nude shade. Koh is quite expensive so I expected really good quality but let me tell you, it's rubbish, after one day they were already chipped really bad and I wanted to take it off right away. What a bummer for a polish that cost around €18,-.

L'Oréal Colour Riche L'Ombre Pure Mono's

Today I'm reviewing a product that's much raved about in the beauty community. I've put off buying them for a while because I really don't need anymore eyeshadows. Well that was until I saw them for 50% off, then I couldn't resist them anymore. I only had a limited choice because they were in the discount bin but I got two shades, I got 201 Cafe Saint Germain and 600 Opalescent.

There are multiple lines of eyeshadows in the Colour Riche L'Ombre Pure line. Nude, chameleon, matte, smoky, pop and lumiere. Cafe Saint Germain is part from the nude line and Opalescent is part from the cameleons. They come ins sleek black/gold packaging which I love and for once, a mono doesn't have a useless sponge applicator. I mean, doesn't every girl has real makeup brushes nowadays?

I'm starting with Opalescent, which has a beautiful check pattern. Like I said, this shade is part from the Chameleon line. The Chameleons are really shimmery shades that look a little bit different every time you look at them. In the pan it already looks gorgeous.

This is the other shade I got, Cafe Saint Germain which is part from the nude line. This line obviously consists out of nude shades. In the pan this reminds me a lot of Mac Satin Taupe which is one of my favourite eyeshadows. Let's take a look at the swatches.

Wauw, these are absolutely gorgeous. Opalescent doesn't show up on camera very well but in real life it's really pretty. I think I can best describe it as a pearly shade with a pink sheen, kind of duo-chrome. The other shade, Cafe Saint Germain, is best described as a brown taupe and my favourite out of the two because it's so wearable. I said it looked very similar to Satin Taupe by mac but it's not.  That shade is a lot more brown and more cool-toned than this L'Oréal one. Next to each other, Cafe Saint Germain is more pink toned with a golden sheen over it, it's gorgeous.

My face says it all, I love these shadows. I did try to include an eyelook in this review but these just don't photograph very well. I applied Opalescent all over my lid and Cafe Saint Germain in the crease and it just looked absolutely gorgeous, I love the combination. These eyeshadows are definitely worth the money, I cannot say I've tried a lot of high end eyeshadows but these are definitely just as good as Mac shadows, I don't have a bad word to say about them.

You can buy the L'Oréal Colour Riche L'Ombre Pure Mono Eyeshadows for €10,49.

Essie Flowerista

Spring has sprung which means that it's time to put away the dark nail polishes and bring out the pastels and brights. I'm a fan of both but at the end of winter I cannot wait to paint my nails in nice springy colours. One of my favourite nail polish brands has brought out a gorgeous spring collection, I'm talking about Essie of course.

This is what Essie has to say about the new collection.
Whether the look is futuristsic minimalism or nouveau bohemian, the name of the game is flower power. The spring 2015 collection is in full bloom, celebrating the fresh perspectives and energetic nature of the spring season. the spring collection marks the first collaboration with designer Rebecca Minkoff joining essie as global color designer.

The collection consists out of 6 gorgeous spring shades, I went for the shade Flowerista. I'm sorry for my horrible cuticles but I work with cardboard boxes so I cannot really do anything about it. Every time I have to work I come back with the driest and ugliest cuticles in the world. Back to the nail polish. Flowerista is a hard to describe shade, it's a plum but with some pink/red mixed in. I love it.

You can buy Essie Flowerista for €9,99 at the drugstore.

New in: Little Blue Shoes

I'm a shoeaholic, I'm the first to admit that. I have way too many shoes and I just cannot stop buying new ones, especially heels. I really shouldn't buy new shoes but I just couldn't resist buy these blue beauties. Ever since I saw Suzie from Hello October wear black and blue loafers (read her post here), I've been on the hunt for a similar pair. At Primark I found a pair that I really liked, without the black but they're still awesome.

They're just basic loafers, but in a bright blue shade. Because they're Primark, the quality is not great but look at them! They are gorgeous. These are part from the wide fit range (they didn't have these in the normal shoe section) but this means they have an extra cushion under the toes and are more comfortable than normal Primark shoes, I don't get why Primark doesn't do this with all of their shoes. For shoes that are probably made out of cardboard (just joking), they feel quite comfortable. I did have to wear plasters on my heels the first couple of times I wore them, but now they feel great. A thing you do need to know is that these transfer really bad, my plasters and toes were blue at the end of the day and let me tell you, blue toes is not a great look. Other than that these shoes are amazing and perfect for the spring time, I love them.

These loafers are currently available at Primark for €8,-

Bourjois Aqua Laque 02 Rosé On The Rocks

Today I'm reviewing a product I've heard mixed reviews about, the new product in the Rouge Edition line by Bourjois, The Aqua Laque. I've read both positive and negative reviews about it and I really wanted to try it out myself,  I kept it off for quite a long time but when I finally had the change to swatch them, I fell in love with this shade and I had to buy it.

This is the Aqua Laque in the shade '02 Rosé On The Rocks', a lip product that isn't like anything I've ever tried before. According to Bourjois, this lipstick gives your lips a mirror-like shine, intense colour and 10 hours of hydration. It's supposed to be a non-sticky formula that glides on easily, creating a water-light sensation on the lips. There are 8 shades available and it should last for a long time. I swatched all of them and decided on this very wearable pink shade.

When I first tried this lip product, I was really surprised. I heard the texture was really weird and it's true, it feels really weird on the lips. The pigmentation at first is quite good but when you start to distribute the product over your lips, it becomes more sheer and you feel the weird texture really well. It just feels really watery and kind of jelly, the weird feeling wears off though, after a while it just feels like a lipbalm/gloss. After I was over the weird feeling, I decided that I like this product. It's a nice nude pinky shade that I've been wearing all the time since I got it. It wears really comfortable (once you're over the texture) but you do have to reapply after a meal or every 2 hours.

I think this is definitely a love or hate product. If you like more sheer, moisturizing glosses, I think you'll like this but if you don't, you won't. Personally I love it, I've been wearing it a lot and especially this color, is really wearable. The formula is not drying at all and it's just such an easy shade to quickly apply.

The Bourjois Aqua Laque's cost €14,19 and there are 8 shades available.

Morning Skin Care Routine

In today's post I'm going to show you my morning skin care routine. I'm going to show you what product I use on my face to wake my face up in the morning. I'm not a person that uses a lot of skin care products and I mainly focus on a good routine at night, but I did build up a morning routine that works great for me.

I start by waking my eyes up with some Micellair water from Garnier. At night I use this to remove my eye makeup but in the morning I use it to wake my eyes up. It's just a really nice feeling to put something cold onto my puffy eyes.

A product I've not been using for a long time is a tonic. I never really though this would do anything for my skin but since I've been using it, I feel like my skin looks clearer and better, it really helps.

Then it's time to apply my eye cream. I've only been using the La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra Contour Yeux for a short time but I absolutely love it. This is made for under eye areas that are dry and tend to get reddish. Exactly my problem. I apply this by squeezing it onto my ring finger and dabbing it under my eyes.

In the morning I don't use a moisturizer, I only use the Idéalia Life Serum by Vichy. I just feel like I don't need anything else after using this. Another great thing about this serum is that it has a pearly finish that makes my face looks glowy and healthy.

The last step in my routine is a lip balm, I'm currently obsessed with this lip butter from Nivea. This is the coconut version, I've tried the raspberry one before which I liked but this smells amazing

And that was it for today's post. Obviously these products won't work for everybody because everybody's skin is different. Mine is quite dry at the moment but usually it's normal, so keep that in mind if you want to try any of these products. They work for me but that doesn't mean they work for everybody. Still, these products are really basic so maybe they work great on everybody.

E
