The Body Shop Festive Body Butter Trio

Hello my loves,

I hope you all had a lovely christmas, I certainly did. To stay in the christmas spirit, I have a festive review for you. Today I am reviewing the Festive Body Butter Trio by The Body Shop.
I went shopping right before Christmas because that is the time for the best deals. The Body Shop had a sale going on and it was 50% off, on your second product. You can understand this deal was too good to let go.I picked up two things, these three body butter and a  little gift set for my mother.
In this set you will find three mini body butters that all hold 50ml/48g.

  • Cranberry Joy
  • Vanilla Bliss
  • Ginger Sparkle
The come all snuggling together in a festive gold box and all three of them are limited edition.
I know that The Body Shop does more mini body butters and I think they are a great way to try scents out. Personally it takes me quite some time to finish a body butter and I think these minis will not run out that quickly.
Cranberry Joy
The first one is called  'Cranberry Joy' and it smells (how can it be) like cranberries. This is a really fruity body butter and it is lotiony (some butter are hard and others are more like lotion).
List of the ingredients:
Aqua/Water (Solvent/Diluent), Butyrospermum Parkii/Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) (Skin-Conditioning Agent/Emollient), Sesamum Indicum Seed Oil/Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Glycerin (Humectant), Cetearyl Alcohol (Emulsifier), Glyceryl Stearate (Emulsifier), PEG-100 Stearate (Surfactant), C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate (Emollient), Ethylhexyl Palmitate (Skin Conditioning Agent), Glycine Soja Oil/Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil (Emollient/Skin Conditioner), Cera Alba/Beeswax (Emulsifier/Emollient), Dimethicone (Skin Conditioning Agent), Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter/Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter (Emollient), Orbignya Oleifera Seed Oil (Emollient), Phenethyl Alcohol (Fragrance Ingredient), Caprylyl Glycol (Skin Conditioning Agent), Vaccinium Macrocarpon Seed Oil/Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Seed Oil (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Parfum/Fragrance (Fragrance), Xanthan Gum (Viscosity Modifier), Tocopherol (Antioxidant), Disodium EDTA (Chelating Agent), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Sodium Hydroxide (pH Adjuster), Citral (Fragrance Ingredient), Citric Acid (pH Adjuster), Caramel (Colour), CI 14700/Red 4 (Colour), CI 17200/Red 33 (Colour).
I think this scent is quite universal and therefore a good gift because a lot of people will like this.
Vanilla Bliss
The middle body butter is called 'Vanilla Bliss'. This one made me a little bit hesitant to buy the trio since I am NOT a lover of vanilla. Some people love it but I cannot stand the scent of it. This one is definitely a true butter, it is quite hard.
List of the ingredients:
Aqua/Water (Solvent/Diluent), Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter/Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter (Emollient), Butyrospermum Parkii/Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) (Skin-Conditioning Agent/Emollient), Glycerin (Humectant), Cetearyl Alcohol (Emulsifier), Gl
This one is my least favourite one out of the three but that is just because I do not like vanilla. Check before you buy this is the person you are buying it for like vanilla things but I will give this one away to one of my friends.
Ginger Sparkle
Than we have 'Ginger Sparkle', my favourite one. I have never eaten gingerbread or anything (maybe because I am Dutch and we do not really eat that) but I am digging the scent of this butter. This one is lotiony , just like the cranberry one, I think this is my favourite kind of body butter.
List of the ingredients:
Aqua/Water (Solvent/Diluent), Butyrospermum Parkii/Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) (Skin-Conditioning Agent/Emollient), Glycerin (Humectant), Cetearyl Alcohol (Emulsifier), Glyceryl Stearate (Emulsifier), Glycine Soja Oil/Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil (Emollient/Skin Conditioner), PEG-100 Stearate (Surfactant), C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate (Emulsifier), Dimethicone (Skin Conditioning Agent), Bertholletia Excelsa Seed Oil (Emollient), Ethylhexyl Palmitate (Skin Conditioning Agent), Sesamum Indicum Seed Oil/Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter/Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter (Emollient), Orbignya Oleifera Seed Oil (Emollient), Cera Alba/Beeswax (Emulsifier/Emollient), Parfum/Fragrance (Fragrance), Phenethyl Alcohol (Fragrance Ingredient), Caprylyl Glycol (Skin Conditioning Agent), Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil (Skin Conditioning Agent), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Emollient), Xanthan Gum (Viscosity Modifier), Limonene (Fragrance Ingredient), Disodium EDTA (Chelating Agent), Hexyl Cinnamal (Fragrance Ingredient), Zingiber Officinale Root Extract/Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract (Natural Additive), Benzyl Salicylate (Fragrance Ingredient), Tocopherol (Antioxidant), Cinnamal (Fragrance Ingredient), Eugenol (Fragrance Ingredient), Citral (Fragrance Ingredient), Sodium Hydroxide (pH Adjuster), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Citronellol (Fragrance Ingredient), Zingiber Officinale Root Oil/Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Oil (Natural Additive), Citric Acid (pH Adjuster), Caramel (Colour), CI 15985/Yellow 6 (Colour), CI 14700/Red 4 (Colour).
I do not know if this is a universal body butter but I do know that I like it a lot and you would make me very happy with this gift.
Like I said before, I like the ginger one the best and the vanilla one the least but I still think this makes a great gift. I cannot find this particular set on the website anywhere but they still sell these body butters individually. Be quick if you want these because they are limited editions and I do not know how long these will stay in stores since they are on sale right know.

The House of Pets Coconut Gift Set

Hello  my loves,

Today I have a review about two body products from a brand I have never heard off; The house of pets. I got this for Sinterklaas and I did not have high expectations of this at all, I was not even going to do a review of these. That was until I tried them.
These two products have the cutest packaging I have ever seen, two little cats with pink bows around there neck and a paper medallion.
This gift set came with a shower gel and a Body Lotion. They are both in little cats, one black one and one white version. I was really surprised when I tried these for the first time. The shower gel foamed away greatly and the bodylotion hydrated my skin in an amazing way, my skin felt so soft. The main thing that surprised me was the way it sank in my skin, it was so quick. Very nice!
I have no idea where you can buy these since they were a gift but if you see them by accident, definitely take them with you because I highly recommend them. Expensive I do not think they are because they feel kind of cheap but do not judge a book by its price, it is a great product. The one thing I do not like is the packging. It is cute and all but not  convenient.

Things with menthol

Hello my loves,

Today I have a little mixed review for you guys. It is a little review of three products that are all smelling like a peppermint. I have been wanting to review these products for you for a while now but I kept procrastinating this until christmastime. I found it very appropriate for this time a year since it is candy cane season :).
I have had these three products for a while now so keep in mind that they are all used. The products I am reviewing are from Lush, The Body Shop and Kneipp. Two products are for the shower and one product for you feet.
The three products I am reviewing are Woosh, the shower jelly by Lush, the Peppermint Reviving Foot Soak by The Body Shop and at last a Kneipp shower gel in menthol eucalyptus.
I am starting this review with the shower gel by Kneipp. When I decide to shower in the morning, which rarely happens since I always oversleep, I really like using a shower gel that wakes me up. Somethings fresh usually. This shower gel with menthol gets me up and shining. It foams great and smells amazing, what more could you want?
Then we have the reviving foot soak, my favourite product for my feet. This product from The Body Shop and I love using this after a long shopping trip when my feet are tired as hell. This perks my feet up right away and it makes them feel painless again. A great product for tired feet.
The last product is a special product. Something I have never seen at any other brand than Lush, a shower jelly. This is another product I like to use during my morning showers. The product is a little weird but the way I like to use it goes like this; I pull a little piece out of the jelly and put this in my loofa. Than it starts foaming in a magical way with an incredible menthol, scent.

I hoped you enjoyed this short review and I really hope you will check these products out.

Catrice Eye Palette: Hollywood's Golden Age

Hello my loves,

I am putting this post up later than I wanted to but better late then never. The reason for this delayed post are several  christmas activities but now I am back. Christmas vacation has started and I have a little bit more time to write. On tuesday I wrote a review of the new roaring lip colours of the new limited Catrice collection and today I am reviewing the eyeshadow palette of that same line.
This new palette is part of the 'feathers & pearls' collection that is available in stores right now. There is one kind and it is called 'Hollywood's Golden Age', a very appropriate name for this smokey palette.
Does this palette look familiar to you? If you have been reading my blog for a while or if your a massive fan of Catrice, it should. It has the same design as the other eyeshadow palettes Catrice brought out in the last year; 'All Nude' which is in the regular collection and 'Haunted Melody' which was in the Hip Trip collection during may and june. You can click on the names to go to the reviews I wrote about those palettes.
This palette holds five shimmery eyeshadows and one cake-eyeliner. I am very enthusiastic about the metallic eyeshadows but the cake-eyeliner is not something I usually like. 'All Nude' is black, 'Haunting Melody' was silver and this one is gold, I like the fact that they vary their packaging. This one has some gold details on the lid  i.a. the feather that was on the roaring lip colour packaging as well. The brush that comes with the palette is not as great as the ones that were in the previous palettes. The brush side of the dual-ended applicator has gone backwards in quality.
These are the six colours that the palette holds. I know that the middle two colours look very similar on the photos above but if you look at the photo with all the colours, you can see that the left one is darker.
From the left to the right:
  • Black cake-eyeliner.
  • Black with silver shimmers.
  • Shimmery anthracene.
  • Silver.
  • Gold
  • Shimmery white which Catrice describes as diamant.
Six  pretty shades which look like they could be perfect for a smokey eye look with a whole lot of shimmers.
This is how the swatches look and I must say that I am not blown away by them. The black, anthracene and white are nice but the grey and gold shades are a little bit disappointing. The cake-eyeliner is surprisingly pigmented, it the swatch on the left and I applied it with a wet brush.
Here you see the look I created with the palette. I put the grey all over my lid, the anthracene in my crease and the shimmery black in my outer-v. The white one I used as an innercorner highlight. I also applied the cake eyeliner along my lash line but then I put more grey over it to make it smokier, really like the effect this gave.
I am not mega enthusiastic about this palette, it is not really special and the quality is not amazing. The eyeshadows are very crumbly and most of them blend away easily. Only the shimmery black one stays on and the cake eyeliner is kind of nice. Just not very convenient because you can only use it with a wet brush.
If you are looking for a nice smokey palette I would recommend it but keep in mind that it is not easy to create a nice eyelook with it. Another tip I should give you is not to do your whole face if you are going to use this, it has a lot of fall out.
You can buy this palette right now for €4,99 but you will have to be quick because it is a limited edition.
