Little Book Haul

Hello my loves,

I don't read a lot but when I'm on vacation I do. I lay down at the pool with a nice book and float away in the wonderful worlds they tell about. I picked up a few new book to take with me to that pool and I wanted to share them with you.
I picked up four books, not a lot because I already have a few books I want to take with me. I bought:

  • Jenny Downham: Before I Die
  • Ally Condie: Crossed
  • Ally Condie: Matched
  • George R.R. Martin: A Game Of Thrones: A Song Of Ice And Fire
Jenny Downham - Before I Die
This book is about a sixteen year old girl with leukemia, due to the cancer she has little time left to live. The time she has, she wants to spent well and therefore she makes a list of ten things she wants to do before she dies. Point one, sex. She wants to drive a car, she wants to be famous and she wants to fall in love. While Tessa is doing the things on her list, she gets more sick and her death comes closer.
From the back of the book
This will probably not the most appropriate book to read on your summer vacation but I've wanted to read it for a while now and can't wait any longer. I can't relate to the story but I hope it's a beautiful book about life and death.
Ally Condie - Matched
On her seventeenth birthday, Cassia meets her Match. Society dictates he is her perfect partner for life. Except he's not. In Cassia's society, Officials decide who people love. How many children they have. Where they work. When they die. But, as Cassia finds herself falling in love with another boy, she is determined to make some choices of her own. And that's when her whole world begins to unravel...
Ally Condie - Crossed
Rules are different outside the Society. Chasing down an uncertain future, Cassia makes her way to the Outer Provinces in pursuit of Ky - taken by the Society to his certain death - only to find that he has escaped into the majestic, but treacherous, canyons. On this wild frontier are glimmers of a different life and the enthralling promise of rebellion. But even as Cassia sacrifices everything to reunite with Ky, ingenious surprises from Xander may change the game once again. Narrated from both Cassia's and Ky's points of view, this hotly anticipated sequel to Matched will take them both to the edge of Society, where nothing is as expected and crosses and double-crosses make their path more twisted than ever...This is the sensational second book in the series and follow-up to acclaimed international bestseller, Matched .
Ever since I heard a review of these books by Elle Fowler, I've wanting to read them. Therefore I couldn't leave them when I saw them at the bookstore. I'm a big fan of dystopian books and I think these won't be an exception
George R.R. Martin - Game Of Thrones - A Song Of Fire And Ice
Long ago, in a time forgotten, a preternatural event threw the seasons out of balance. In a land where summers can last decades and winters a lifetime, trouble is brewing. The cold is returning, and in the frozen wastes to the north of Winterfell, sinister forces are massing beyond the kingdom’s protective Wall. To the south, the king’s powers are failing—his most trusted adviser dead under mysterious circumstances and his enemies emerging from the shadows of the throne. At the center of the conflict lie the Starks of Winterfell, a family as harsh and unyielding as the frozen land they were born to. Now Lord Eddard Stark is reluctantly summoned to serve as the king’s new Hand, an appointment that threatens to sunder not only his family but the kingdom itself.
Sweeping from a harsh land of cold to a summertime kingdom of epicurean plenty, A Game of Thrones tells a tale of lords and ladies, soldiers and sorcerers, assassins and bastards, who come together in a time of grim omens. Here an enigmatic band of warriors bear swords of no human metal; a tribe of fierce wildlings carry men off into madness; a cruel young dragon prince barters his sister to win back his throne; a child is lost in the twilight between life and death; and a determined woman undertakes a treacherous journey to protect all she holds dear. Amid plots and counter-plots, tragedy and betrayal, victory and terror, allies and enemies, the fate of the Starks hangs perilously in the balance, as each side endeavors to win that deadliest of conflicts: the game of thrones.
I've seen the first season of Game Of Thrones and I loved it. That was in the autumn and I've been wanting to read the books ever since. I'm looking forward to dream away into the world that George Martin created.
I hope you enjoyed reading about this books and please let me know if you want me to write a blogpost about my thoughts on these books. I've to stop myself from starting already because I want to read them so bad but no. I've to save them for my vacation.

Catrice: GlamazonCatrice: Glamazona Ultimate Nail Lacquer

Hello my loves,

A week ago I reviewed the blush and lip pen from the new Catrice Glamazon collection. I promised I would review some other products from the collection as well and today it's time for two out of the four nail polishes. The two other ones are 'I'm a survivor' which is a fiery red one and a 'Lime Heart beating Like A Jungle Drum' which is a lemon yellow colour.
The nail polishes from the Glamazona are inspired by the flora and fauna from paradise and the names are inspired by the beautiful colours of the rainforest. I went for 'C01 Dirty Liana' and 'C02 I Got The Flower!', the other colours didn't appeal to me. I've never worn a yellow nail polish and I like dark erds better than a plain fiery red.
The nail polishes come in the same packaging as the polishes from the regular collection only these ones have a zebra-print on the cap, a detail I think makes them a little bit more special. The colours don't look very spectacular and not very summery (the ones I didn't buy do) but that doesn't make them less pretty.
 C01 Dirty Liana
The first nail polish from this collection is an immediate hit with me. It's a gorgeous jade colour and since jade is my favourite stone I'm a little bit prejudiced. The polish is opaque in two layers.
C02 I Got The Flower!
I Got The Flower is definitely my favorite colour of this collection. I bought a blush, lip pen and a eyeshadow in this colour because I love purple. The blush and lip pen are more fushia but the eyeshadow and this nail polish are purpleicious. The coverage of this one is good but Dirty Liana is more opaque.
I really like these polishes and I think I'll be wearing them a lot, even though they're not really summer colours. The packaging is cute, the coverage is good enough and they apply nicely (They're not to thick and not to thin, just right).
The polishes from the Catrice Glamazon collection are available at the drugstore at this moment for €2,99

Marc Jacobs: Daisy Eau So Fresh

Hello my loves,

It's been a while since I reviewed a perfume for you and I've been wanting a new summery one for quite some time now. One of the perfumes I wanted was Daisy by Marc Jacobs and then the eaus so fresh edition. I was doubting between that one and Lola, also by Marc Jacobs. I decided on Daisy because that one smelled more like summer to me.
Vibrant,, charming, whimsical is how this scent is described. It's a lighter version then the original Daisy and transports you to a happy and sunny place. Sun equals summers and therefore this should be a good summer scent.
This perfume comes in a ginormous box because the cap is so big. The box itself is really cute, it's soft pink with black letters. Around the edges you see yellow and white daisies with a golden heart. I bought the 75 ml one but you can also buy 125ml and 2o ml version.
The design of this bottle looks really cool. I looks a lot like the original daisy bottle but that one is yellow, less tall and wider. Eau so fresh has six daisies on top were the original only has three. The cap is gold and has six daisies attached to it, one yellow, three pink and two white ones. The letters on the bottle are just like the cap, gold.
Daisy is a floral fruity scent and is described as fragrance that radiates with a sunny and sparkling energy, a whimsical, yet elegant fragrance with playful notes f crisp raspberry, sensuous wild rose and deep and warm plum. It has the follow notes:

  • Top notes: raspberry, grapefruit and pear.
  • Middle notes: wild rose, violet, litchi, jasmine and apple blossom.
  • Base notes: plum, cedarwood, musk
I can definitely smell the musk in the perfume but the grapefruit and the raspberry keep it fresh. I love the scent of roses and you can smell those pretty good in this perfume. It smells great and is totally up my alley. I do think it's weird that a perfume called Daisy, doesn't have any daisies in it. Don't you?
Marc Jacobs Daisy eau so fresh is a delicious summer scent and I thing very universal, most of the women on earth will like this, I think. The bottle is unhandy big and not easy to travel with but it looks very cool. The perfume is a eau de toilette but stays a long time smelable. During the day you have to spray again but twice a  day is enough to keep smelling like it all day.
You can buy Daisy eau so fresh 75 ml at the perfumery for €71,50. The 125 ml version costs €94,00 and the petit flower version (which is good for traveling, 20 ml) for €32,40.

HEMA: Nail Polish

Hello my loves,

Yesterday my mother cam home and gave me a plastic bag on which the logo of HEMA was printed. When I asked what it was she said: 'Nail polish, I really liked the colours and I thought you could review them on your blog.' Well I can't say no to free nail polish and I promised my mother I would review them. That's why I'm reviewing three totally random nail polishes today.
My mother picked out three totally different nail polishes. Two from the long lasting line and one holographic one.The only thing they have in common is the brand, outside that, they're three totally different polishes.
I'm a big fan of the HEMA nail polishes and I have quite a few (review of the chameleon nail polishes by HEMA). It's a sad thing they still give them numbers as names but the variety in colours is amazing. I'm reviewing 51, 818 and 826 for you. 51 one is also called Holographic Green but the other two polishes just have a numer. I made photo's on various places in my house and picked for each nail polish on which picture they came out the best. That's why the lighting looks a little bit different on each picture.
51 Holographic Green
I'm not sure if I like this polish. The colour is beautiful and it looks great in the sunshine but the coverage isn't great. The polish is hard to apply equally and you have to apply three coats for an even surface. Don't expect one of those amazing holographic polishes that you see all over tumblr, expect a pretty polish that looks gorgeous in the sun but isn't a true holo-polish
I wish I could name the polishes from HEMA, the numbers are just so boring. This fiery red polish could be named fire truck or something like that. It's a orangey red with some warm shimmers in it. Can you get the fire extinguisher for me cause my nails are on fire!
Again a number, BORING! The colour is everything but boring, it's a gorgeous berry colour packed with cold toned shimmers. I don't really like colours like this one for the summer but is my go-to in the autumn and winter. The polish is a little bit thin and therefore just a little bit hard to apply but not impossible as I always say.
I think 818 will become a huge favorite of mine, I don't really wear orange polishes because I think it's more something for during football or on queens day (or kings day since we now have king instead of a queen). This one has enough red in it to be appropriate for everyday. 51 is gorgeous but is hard to work with, I'll keep trying o maybe this can become a favorite. 826 is more a colour for autumn but maybe then...
You can buy the holographic one at HEMA for €3,75, the other two cost €2,50.

Catrice: Glamazona Defining Blush & Lip Colour Pen

Hello my loves,

According to Catrice, the new trends of the summer season are multiple flower prints and tropical colours. The fashion designers are loving the exotic blossoms and untamed wildlife of the Amazon this spring. The trends are mysterious, extravagant and glamorous. The limited edition of july is named glamazona brings the dazzling rainforest to the city. The colours are bright and sometimes even metallic, the collection inspires the hunting instinct of all Amazon queens. Sound good doesn't it? That why I bought quite a few products of this months limited edition. I bought the two products I'm reviewing right now, two nail polishes and two eyeshadows. Reviews of those will come in the following weeks.
As told, I'm going to review the blush and the lip pen from the Glamazona collection in the shade: I got the flower! I bought both of the products in the same shade to be able to combine them with each other. I'm going to start with the review of the defining blush.
Catrice says: Wild b(l)ush. The ultra-fine powder rouge with a breathtaking relief structure is easy to blend and conjures-up a naturally fresh look. For a radiant complexion and beautiful definition on the contours of your face.
I'm starting to get more into blushes lately and I couldn't leave this one at the store. It's a beautiful fuchsia colour and the packaging looks stunning. There's some animal print and a flower on the lid. The blush itself has a zebra print.
OMG, I was blown away when I swatched it. It's incredibly pigmented and even my cheap Etos brush picks it up really well. It's a bright fuchsia blush and feels super soft on your skin. It's a little bit hard to apply because it's so crazy pigmented but it's not impossible. Just be carefull when you apply it.
Now let's move on to the lip pen
Catrice says: Lipstick jungle. Turn your lips into exciting, colour-intense and glossy lip-catchers with these Colour Pens. The practical pens are easy to handle and have a soft, retractable mine – for an accurate application and glossy results.
This is one of those lip pens that seem to be very 'trendy' at the moment. I've already reviewed a lip pen from HEMA and I really like that one (review). It's really easy to take with you in your bag. The Catrice one however, is very bright where the one from HEMA was a great everyday colour. The packaging is really cute, girly tough and at the same time.
Just like the blush this lip pen is crazy pigmented. On the pictures this looks like a bright fuschia pink but in real life it looks a little bit darker, almost a berry colour. It's really easy to apply because it's a stick, it's almost like you're colouring with a pencil in your coloring book, just like when you were a little girl. I do recommend to use a lipliner because the product starts walking of your lips during the day I know that it sounds weird but it's true. After a hour of three, you'll get a pink stain around your lips that is very hard to get rid of. I hope a lip pencil will prevent this because I love the colour of this. I bought the Essence lipliner in 07 Cute Pink, this is the perfect colour and keeps the product in between the lines.
These two products make a great combo and they look really good on a fair skin like mine. The blush is a bit hard to apply since it is so pigmented but as I said before, not impossible. I wore both of them tdy and they last a long time. The blush mutes down during the day and the gloss of this lip pen disappeared which leaves your lips looking stained in a pretty way.
I would not leave these two products from the Glamazona limited edition, get them while they are in stores cause I can imagine they'll be sold out pretty quick. The price of the blush is €3.99 and the lip pen costs €4,99. Review of the nail polish and eyeshadows that are part of the Glamazona collection will come soon.
